Cashman: Gardner and Miller likely to stay

Brian Cashman is doing his annual rappelling down a building today and this should make Yankee fans happy. On this day in 2013 Robinson Cano signed with the Seattle Mariners while the Yankees signed Carlos Beltran. In 2014, a similar story happened when the Yankees acquired Didi Gregorius from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Yankees have made it very clear that they are unwilling to enter a bidding war for the top free agents this offseason but what Cashman has made clear is that they are looking at all options via the trade market. Brett Gardner and Andrew Miller have been two names the Yankees have floated around in trade talks but Cashman said that they it is more likely than not that the Yankees will end up keeping both players.

However, they're still focused on improving the team through the trade market. The team has been linked to Shelby Miller and Carlos Carrasco. Cashman is intent on adding a controllable, young pitcher, which may come at a steep price. The Braves recently asked for Luis Severino in return for Miller. Don't expect the Yankees to be heavy players in the free agent market because Cashman reiterated that the team's money is committed and tied up already.

But no matter what you do today, keep your eyes and ears open because history has shown that on this day, Cashman is doing more than climbing down a building.
