Heyman: Pineda, Ackley avoid arbitration
Michael Pineda and Dustin Ackley have avoided arbitration, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Pineda's deal is worth $4.3M for 2016, says Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports; Ackley will get $3.2M. Pineda, who turns 27 in five days, is getting a raise from his $2.1M salary in 2015. He got off to a great start this past season (3.60 ERA pre-all-star break) before fading in the second half (5.80 ERA post-all-star-break). Pineda landed on the DL with an elbow strain in late July but returned at the end of August to make eight starts. Ackley played well for the Yanks after coming over from Seattle in a trade back in July. He slashed .288/.333/.654 with four homers and 11 RBI in just 23 games. He figures to be a super utility guy for the team in 2016. Ackley earned $2.6M in '15. The Yankees are exchanging salary figures with Aroldis Chapman, Nathan Eovaldi, Didi Gregorius and Ivan Nova but no settlements have been reached yet, according to Heyman. Stay tuned for more updates.
