According to manager Joe Girardi, Bird met with Dr. Bob Anderson on Tuesday in North Carolina. During his visit, the 24-year-old received a cortisone shot, and the hope is that he can resume baseball activities in 3-5 days. As of now, there is no real timetable for Bird's return. Prior to suffering the injury, Bird was struggling mightily at the plate. After a very good spring training, Bird picked up only six hits throughout his first 60 at-bats this season. His struggles continued during his rehab stint in Triple-A, as he went 3-21 in 6 games prior to re-aggravating the injury. With the Yankees getting a lack of production at first base, they are hopeful that Bird can return to the lineup in the near future. A healthy Greg Bird could definitely make a huge difference in the everyday lineup.
