Jacob Lindgren placed on Disabled List

According to Dan Martin of the New York Post, Jacob Lindgren has been placed on the disabled list by Single-A Tampa due to an elbow injury.

The 23-year-old spent some time with the big league club last season before undergoing season-ending elbow surgery last June. In seven appearances for the Yankees last season, the 2014 second round draft pick allowed four runs throughout his seven innings of work. With Lindgren coming back from the elbow surgery, the Yankees decided to have him start the season in Single-A. The start to the season has been rough for the 23-year-old, as he has been having trouble with his command as of late. In six appearances thus far, Lindgren is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA, but has walked 9 batters in just seven innings of work. For the Yankees, they hope that the injury to Lindgren is not serious. With some recent season-ending injuries to some relief pitchers who were impacting the big league roster, the Yankees don't want to have another one of their young talented pitchers out for an extended period of time. It's unclear how serious the injury is at this time, but the Yankees hope that it's not an injury that sidelines Lindgren for a long time. Once he returns, it's very possible that he can find his way back to the big leagues before the end of the season if he can get back to form and find command of his pitches.
