Jacoby Ellsbury to begin rehab assignment
Jacoby Ellsbury will begin his MLB rehab assignment tonight with the High-A Tampa Yankees on his road to recovery. Ellsbury's been sidelined since May 20 with a sprained knee, which he suffered against the Washington Nationals. The 31 year-old outfielder is hitting .324 this season in 37 games with an on-base percentage of .412. The speedy lefty also swiped 14 bags before his injury. With him and Brett Gardner at the top of the lineup, the Yankees were putting runs on the board early and often. Ellsbury could rejoin the big league team as early as this Friday, when the Yankees open up a very important three-game series with the first place Rays.
