Jake Cave roasts Greg Bird on Twitter
@_GBIRD33 why? Youre not gonna touch anything

Ok, "roasts" may be a little strong. Bird Tweeted that he'll need some extra bats for live batting practice vs Chapman, since he averages 100mph with his fastball. Cave replied with the zinger that he won't even touch Chapman. Bird is new to Twitter, having just joined a couple of months ago, but Cave seems to be a social media vet, considering he has over 15K tweets. Greg later responded with "haha ouch." Bird might need to work on his comebacks... I love seeing this kind of stuff from players. We have not seen this from Yankees in the past; one, because Twitter didn't exist, and two, by the time it did all our favorite players were older and uninterested in using it. The young guys like Bird, Refsnyder, Cave, and others seem to be on top of their Twitter game. It shows the camaraderie in the Yankees minor league system, and has me excited for what kind of team they could be at the major league level.
Bird had an impressive rookie season for the Yanks when he replaced Teixeira over the summer. His play earned him the "untouchable" label on the trade market, and he projects to be the Yankees first baseman after Tex's contract is up. Most Yankees fans, including myself, hope Girardi and Cashman can find at-bats for Bird at the major league level next season. Cave was selected by the Reds in the Rule 5 Draft earlier this month. The former Yankee was taken in the 2011 MLB draft and spent 4 seasons in the Yankees system. According to his Twitter timeline, he's pretty pumped to see some familiar faces heading to Cincy.
