Montgomery was signing autographs for fans when Sandy Leon smoked a line drive that hit the 24-year-old on the side of the head. The left-hander was able to walk back to the Yankees dugout with the help of the team's bullpen catcher. Bryan Hoch spoke to someone on the field, who stated that Montgomery seemed "woozy" after the incident occurred. According to Ken Rosenthal of MLB Network, the 24-year-old appears to be "ok."

Just hours after placing Masahiro Tanaka on the disabled list, this is not what the Yankees had hoped for. Montgomery was recalled from the minor leagues to replace CC Sabathia in the rotation, and the club can not afford to lose another starting pitcher. Montgomery is scheduled to start tomorrow night's series finale against the Red Sox. The Yankees are definitely hopeful that the young left-hander will be good to go for tomorrow's contest.
