Domingo German, who relieved Montgomery in Tuesday night's win, will take Montgomery's place in the rotation. Hale will take German's place in the Yankees bullpen. In additional roster moves, the Yankees transferred outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury to the 60-day disabled list. The Yankees also reinstated OF Clint Frazier from the 7-day concussion list and optioned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Ellsbury was placed on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique injury in March, and then suffered a hip injury in April. Frazier suffered a concussion during the first week of Spring Training which diminished his chances of breaking camp with the team. Due to the plethora of outfielders on the Major League roster, Frazier was optioned to Scranton after completing a rehab assignment.
