Judge hits another HR, Yankees fall 3-2
BALTIMORE – The New York Yankees were in Baltimore on Memorial Day to take on the Orioles. The O’s came into Monday afternoon’s game looking to snap their seven game losing streak and did so behind Dylan Bundy’s great start, 3-2. Bundy kept the Yankees’ offense quiet all day by mixing and matching his pitches throughout his start. He pitched seven innings, allowed seven hits and two earned runs while striking out three. The only big mistake that the right-hander made was the home run he allowed to Aaron Judge in the top of the seventh inning. Yankees’ southpaw Jordan Montgomery only managed to pitch 4.1 innings because of his excessive pitch count (100). Montgomery allowed several hits with two outs in multiple innings but managed to give up only one earned run (three unearned). The lefty also struck out five and walked one. A brunt of the Orioles’ damage came in the bottom of the third inning when Starlin Castro made a costly error that kept the inning alive. Following that, Orioles’ second baseman Jonathan Schoop hit a two-run double to give his team a 3-1 lead. Judge’s home run off of Bundy brought the Yankees within one run in the seventh inning, but his team was unable to plate the tying run. The Yankees’ bullpen was dominant following Montgomery’s shaky start. Jonathan Holder and Chasen Shreve combined to throw 2.2 innings, striking out six batters without allowing a hit. With the loss, the Yankees fell to 29-19 on the season, but still remain three games ahead of the second place Boston Red Sox. UP NEXT: Luis Severino (3-2) will take on Chris Tillman (1-1) in the Tuesday night matchup. Severino is coming off of his best outing of the season against the Kansas City Royals where he threw eight scoreless innings. Win- Dylan Bundy Loss- Jordan Montgomery Save- Brad Brach
