Kaprielian impresses in High-A Tampa debut
RHP @JamesKaprielian looked excellent tonight in his debut with High-A Tampa. Fastball topped at 97. Mid-80s slider moved well. #Yankees

James Kaprielian is off to a great start this season. The 22-year-old righty turned in an impressive performance last night in his High-A Tampa Yankees debut. He tossed five innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out nine on the way towards earning his first pro win. The Yankees took a long look at Kaprielian this spring, who showed flashes of greatness while also showing he's still just one year removed from college. However, many expect him to skyrocket through the system, maybe even getting a cup of coffee in the Bronx this summer. He should find himself in Trenton soon, as GM Brian Cashman always says that each player will dictate their own progress. If last night was any indication, they might have to just prepare a locker for him in Scranton. Kaprielian was selected 16th overall in the 2015 amateur draft out of UCLA, and is the organization's top pitching prospect.
