Luis Severino heading to DL
The injury news continues to pile up as the Yankees will place right-handed pitcher Luis Severino on the 15-day disabled list with a mild right triceps strain. The 22-year-old left Friday nights contest after 2 2/3 innings pitched, and immediately left the clubhouse to receive an MRI on his right arm.

The injury comes on the heals of an 0-6 start this season from the young fireball pitcher. He allowed seven earned runs before exiting the contest against the American League leading Chicago White Sox. Severino departed the contest after Jimmy Rollins connected on a two-run home run that extended the White Sox lead to 7-1. After the 95 MPH pitch to Rollins was thrown, Severino was spotted shaking his right arm after Rollins deposited the ball into the second deck. This has prompted the hard throwing starter to not pick up a baseball for 5-7 days to rest his arm. It seems as though the worst case scenario has been avoided as the spot of discomfort that was shown from Severino is usually in the area of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), which is cause for concern. However, the report from the Yankees is a right triceps that is bothering Severino. With a slow start to the 2016 season from one of the top-rated prospects in the Yankees system the past several years, resting his arm could prove to help the struggling righty. A corresponding roster move will be made Saturday to replace Severino.
