Mark Teixeira out of lineup for second straight game
Mark Teixeira will not be in the Yankees' lineup tonight for a second straight game due to an left ankle injury.
Teixeira still out of lineup... Said there is still a lot of fluid in ankle. Will ice/get treatment today #yankees

The 36-year-old first baseman suffered the injury when he fouled a pitch off the ankle on July 16. The team sent Teixeira for a CT scan, which came back negative. Teixeira told reporters that there is still a lot of fluid in the ankle, and that he was going to ice and get more treatment throughout the day. Teixeira is hopeful that he could return to the lineup tomorrow, but manager Joe Girardi said he couldn't guarantee that the veteran first baseman would play at all this series.
Girardi said no plans to use A-Rod at first with Tex hurt, will go with Refsnyder #Refsavior — wallace matthews (@ESPNNYYankees) July 18, 2016
Until Teixeira is able to return to the lineup, Girardi says that Rob Refsnyder will be used as the team's primary first baseman. Girardi also ruled out the possibility of using Alex Rodriguez at first base for the time being. If Teixeira's injury happens to lingers on, the Yankees could possibly have some help on the way. Chris Parmelee ran at almost full speed for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury on June 9, and could be close to making a rehab assignment. Once the 28-year-old is ready to return, he could provide some extra insurance at the first base position for the big league club. In 63 games this season, the switch hitter has struggled mightily, posting a slash line of .186/.263/.305. The Yankees could really use a healthy Teixeira in their lineup for the second half of the season, especially if they are looking to make a run at the postseason in 2016.
