As of now, no results have been announced by the team yet in regards to Teixeira's MRI. The 35-year-old has been dealing with this neck problem for a couple of days now, so it's very likely that the team sent him for an MRI to make sure nothing serious was wrong. For the Yankees, they hope that Teixeira's injury isn't serious. So far in 2015, Teixeira has produced nicely in the middle of the Yankees order, posting a slash line of .251/.364/.556 in his 65 games played. He also has slugged 18 home runs, which is the most on the team. In Teixeira's absence in the lineup, Garrett Jones will get the start at first base. Jones hasn't seen as much playing time as anticipated and has struggled, posting a .224.275/.365 in 37 games. For a guy that has hit 20+ home runs in three seasons prior to playing for the Yankees, the team hopes that he can find some of that power. Jones only has three long balls in 2015 so far, so a little more power from his left-handed swinging bat would definitely benefit the Yankees lineup.
