Bad news: The Yankees continue to lose. Good News: So do the Rays. Even though the Yankees have lost 3 in a row to the Red Sox, they haven't lost any ground behind the Rays. However, they have been passed by both the Indians and the Orioles. But more good news: The Yankees play the Orioles for 4 games in Baltimore starting tomorrow. So, the Yankees can take care of the O's themselves. Here are how the teams in contention fared yesterday:
Rangers: 8-3 loss vs Angels. Rangers commit 4 errors in loss.
Rays: 6-2 loss vs Mariners. Chris Archer only lasts 4 innings; James Paxton gets win in first career start.
Orioles: 4-3 win in 10 innings vs White Sox. Matt Wieters wins game with walk-off 2-RBI single in 10th.
Indians: 9-4 win vs Mets. The Indians rough up Jonathon Niese.
Yankees: 13-9 loss vs Red Sox. Yankees continue to slide.
Royals: 4-3 win vs Tigers. Royals get to Justin Verlander for 8 hits and 4 runs in 7 innings.
