BREAKING: Yankees to acquire Starlin Castro

The Yankees and Chicago Cubs have agreed to a trade that will send shortstop/second baseman Starlin Castro to the Bronx. Joel Sherman was the first to report the deal was agreed upon.

Jack Curry of the YES Network reports that the Yankees will send pitcher Adam Warren and a player to be named later to Chicago in return for Castro.

Castro will presumably be the Yankees everyday second baseman for the near future. The 25-year-old, who is naturally a shortstop, will also backup Didi Gregorius at the position. Castro hit .265/.296/.375 with 11 home runs for the Cubs in 2015. However, when he was moved to second base late in the season, his defense and offensive numbers improved dramatically. Warren was affective for the Yankees as a starter and reliever. He never seemed to find a defined role on the team. He went 7-7 with a 3.29 ERA in 43 games last season. The right-hander made 17 starts for the Bombers.
