Report: Chapman suspension could include Spring Training ban
Aroldis Chapman was acquired in December by the Yankees with rumors swirling around him amid a domestic violence allegation and the possibility of a suspension. According to the New York Daily News, Chapman's discipline could include a Spring Training ban if Commissioner Rob Manfred makes a decisions within the next couple of days. With baseball's new domestic violence policy, it gives Manfred more control to punish a player to a degree in which he finds suitable for the situation given. A source told the Daily News that "while a spring training ban is hardly a certainty, nothing could be ruled out and its player 'in new territory' when it comes to discipline in domestic violence cases." If Chapman is indeed disciplined by the league and Manfred, and most think he will receive some type of punishment, the possibilities are a ban from major-league camp, a ban from team facilities, or a suspension from regular-season games. If he was to be suspended during the regular season only, he would still be available during spring training and would be allowed to be around team facilities.
