Report: Pineda hurt, scratched from start
Update 2:30 pm ET: Take a breath. Joel Sherman is now reporting that Pineda has a Grade 1 forearm strain, somewhat similar to the injury that Andrew Miller suffered earlier in the summer. The Yankees expect Pineda to return to the mound this year. Also, CC will pitch tonight in place of Pineda. Mitchell was originally thought to be the starter, but instead will be in the bullpen.
Pineda has Grade 1 forearm strain. Same as Miller, who missed a month. Being put on DL, but #Yankees feel he will pitch again this yr

Update: Joel Sherman of the NY Post is reporting that Pineda is dealing with a forearm muscle strain, and that the injury is not related to the elbow. The injury is not considered serious. The Yankees have still not officially announced anything yet.

As the Yankees watched the Blue Jays get David Price from the Tigers, they received even more bad news. According to Mike Francesa of WFAN, Michael Pineda has an arm issue and was scratched from his start tonight. Bryan Mitchell will get the ball instead. Francesa said Pineda is likely heading to the DL, and could be hurt badly, although the Yankees haven't announced anything yet. Pineda's last two starts have been ugly, as he's given up nine runs on 14 hits in 11.2 innings. Francesa also said he's hearing Ivan Nova is hurt, too. After Nova's start on Monday, he said he's dealing with arm fatigue, a general problem with pitchers coming back from Tommy John surgery. It's not yet known if Nova is dealing with a more serious injury. Nonetheless, the Yankees are in desperate need for pitching. Expect Brian Cashman to make some moves between now and tomorrow afternoon's trade deadline.
