Report: Yankees manager search down to Boone, Meulens
According to a report by Bill Madden of the NY Daily News, the New York Yankees managerial search is down to two. Aaron Boone and Hensley "Bam-Bam" Meulens. Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images
The report states Boone, Meulens and Carlos Beltran made the biggest impressions on general manager Brian Cashman and organizational advisors.
Madden cites the "engaging personalities" and "communication skills" of Boone and Meulens in giving them the upper hand in the process. Plus, Madden notes either candidate would be an outside the box move, which aligns with Cashman fancying himself as an "out of the box" thinker.
On Beltran, according to Madden, the club was impressed to the point where he will be with the Yankees next season as either a bench coach, hitting coach or special assistant. Madden seems to believe Beltran would've been the favorite if he wasn't fresh out of playing last season.
A decision is expected to be made next week.
