Spring Training Game 28: Headley strong in win
Chase Headley drives in three, including on a solo home run, in today's shutout win.

In the third inning, Chase Headley continued his strong spring with his third home run. The home run was a solo blast with two outs. In the fourth inning, the Yankees’ starting first baseman, Alex Rodriguez, led off with a single. Rob Refsnyder would hit a single of his own and Slade Heathcott would bring around one with a run-scoring single too. A wild pitch would extend the lead to three.
Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and rarely faced a difficult situation. In the fourth inning, Eovaldi had a wild pitch to put two in scoring position but he would strand them. In 4 2/3 innings, Nathan Eovaldi allowed no runs on three hits while striking out five in a strong showing.
In the sixth inning, doubles from Stephen Drew and Rob Refsnyder would score the Yankees fourth run of the game. Later in the inning with two outs, Chase Headley would get another hit, scoring a run with a single. An Astros’ error allowed another Yankees run to score as the Yankees lead extended to six.
Following the start by Eovaldi, Chase Whitley, Esmil Rogers, Chasen Shreve and Jose Ramirez combined for 4 1/3 innings of two-hit baseball. In the first base debut of Alex Rodriguez, there were no significant problems in the field.
