Spring Training Notes
CC Sabathia threw 42 pitches in his fourth bullpen session of the spring. Sabathia had knee trouble all last season that led to him having season-ending surgery. He will pitch batting practice at the end of the week, according to the Associated Press.
The Yankees have taken their time with their right fielder, Carlos Beltran. He will make his spring debut Friday after coming off elbow surgery.
Brendan Ryan took swings yesterday. He injured his back the other day while lifting weights and was expected to be sidelined for five days. He is hoping for a return later in the week, according to Brendan Kuty of NJ.com
Masahiro Tanaka came away from his first bullpen session feeling pretty good. He threw 25 pitches Monday. There is concern with Tanaka who missed 2 1/2 months last season with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow. He was advised not to get surgery so there is caution with him this spring.
