Tom Brady to Derek Jeter: "We blew it!"
If you've listened to The Bronx Pinstripes Show then you probably know that I am a Patriots fan. Yes, I know that makes me a hypocrite. Yes, I know that puts me in one of the most hated fan bases in sports. Rooting for the Yankees and Patriots over the past 20 years is like rooting for the Roman and Mongol Empire's at the same time. The point is that I realize I am in the minority, but that is what I get for growing up in Rhode Island.
Today two of the greatest to ever put on a uniform in their respective sports met at Michigan's National Signing Day celebration. Seeing Derek Jeter interact with Tom Brady is nirvana for me. They're two of my favorite athletes to ever play, and I'm sure can share endless on-field and off-field stories (I'm talking about the extensive list of beautiful women they have each dated.) During the conversation you can hear Brady say "we blew it," in reference to the AFC Championship game. He said his season ended a couple weeks short. I'm sure in a candid moment Jeter would tell you that the Yankees also blew it at times... 2004 comes to mind. Check out the video for yourself below. I wish there were subtitles on the conversation, but if you crank the volume you can hear Jeter talk about retirement and how much he is enjoying it. He says he never realized how much preparation he actually had to go through to to get ready for a season until he stopped doing it. Now the only preparation he's worried about is wedding prep.
