Austin was drafted by the Yankees in the 13th round of the 2010 Amateur Draft. He has been used all over the diamond in the Minors, seeing time in the outfield, first and third base. Today he will man first and bat seventh for the RailRiders. With the injury bug taking out Mark Teixeira and Dustin Ackley, don't be surprised if he sees the majority of his time in Triple-A at first. He started the 2015 season in Scranton, but was hitting .230 before going down with a neck injury in June and was demoted after a .235 average in 73 games. He was designated for assignment in September, but went unclaimed and returned to the Yankees. The demotion humbled the youngster, and he's been hungry for another shot ever since.
In 50 games for the Thunder this season, he hit .260 (.298 vs RHP) with four homers and 29 RBI.
