Welcome, Starlin Castro (feat. @IvyEnvy) - The Bronx Pinstripes Show #48
This week we discuss what the Justin Wilson trade with Detroit means for the Yankees bullpen, big MLB free agents who have signed, a new set of stadium rules that MLB has recommended, and what the Castro trade means for Rob Refsnyder and the Yankees future plans. We also recorded with Cubs podcast @IvyEnvy to get to know Starlin Castro better (starts at 33:30). We talk about Castro's walkup music, his impact on Cubs players and fans, how he has matured since being called up at age 20, his transition from shortstop to second base, and his hitting style.
Scott, Corey, and I all agree that Adam Warren for Starlin Castro is a great trade for both sides. The Cubs get a reliable starter/reliever, which fills a hole on their team. The Yankees get an All Star caliber middle infielder who has played nearly 900 games before his 26th birthday. Castro is still young but has a ton of major league experience, which will bode well for playing in the Bronx. His youth and athleticism, combined with Didi at short, gives the Yankees the youngest double play combination in many, many years. Brian Cashman is clearly trying to get younger at certain positions, and this trade executes against that plan. Castro was also a fan favorite in Chicago and has a chance to be the same in New York. We discuss all of this and more with @IvyEnvy (starts at 33:30).
