Yankees DFA Chris Carter; Tyler Austin recalled from Railriders

Good morning! You're probably waking up still excited about last night's great pitching performance from Tanaka, Gardy's game-tying HR in the 9th, and the Toe walk-off in the 10th. But, guess what -- it gets even better! The New York Yankees have designated Chris Carter for assignment.  Tyler Austin will be recalled from Scranton Wilkes-Barre to play first base.  It seems that last night's most recent three strikeout performance by Carter was the straw that broke the camel's back. https://twitter.com/YankeesPR/status/878479092580069377 I would go into Carter's 2017 stats, but honestly, I don't care to relive that, nor do I want to make you sad -- today is a happy day.  Carter struck out a lot, let's just leave it at that. https://twitter.com/Jomboy_/status/854087429661220864 Meanwhile, Tyler Austin is back from the foot injury that has plagued him since the end of spring training. In 27 games with the Railriders, Austin is 30-for-100 (.300BA) and has hit 3HR's in his last 4 games with Scranton.  With Greg Bird still in the world of the unknown because of his ankle injury/bone bruise, Tyler Austin will slot in as the everyday first baseman on the big club.

All is right in the world this morning -- if nothing else and Austin struggles, I'd rather watch Tyler Austin strikeout than watch Chris Carter strikeout.
