Updated Post: June 30, 12:10 a.m. -- According to New York Daily News' Mike Mazzeo, Dustin Fowler left Thursday's game with an open rupture in his right patella tendon in his right knee. He was admitted into Rush University Medical Center and will undergo surgery tonight. His timetable for return is unknown. Original Post: June 30, 12:03 a.m. -- Dustin Fowler had to wait out a two-hour, 50 minute rain delay at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago before making his major league debut in right field for the Yankees on Thursday. But unfortunately, the 22-year-old wasn't given much time to soak in the moment once the rain was gone. Chasing a foul ball with two outs in the bottom of the first inning, Fowler crashed into the right field foul wall, which injured his right leg and forced the Yankees and White Sox's grounds crew to remove Fowler off the field on a cart. After colliding into the wall, Fowler tried to walk under his own power, but he quickly went to the ground, appearing to be in shock of what occurred. By the time Yankees manager Joe Girardi and head trainer Steve Donohue approached Fowler, Girardi placed his hands over his face with a deep sense of distress. Fowler, who was promoted to the big league roster Thursday, hit .293 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, 19 doubles and 13 stolen bases in 70 games (313 plate appearances) with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Updates on Fowler's injury will be given once more information is released. If you want to connect with Tom Hanslin, email him at thanslin@gmail.com or follow him on Twitter @tomhanslin.
