Yankees Game 107: Ibanez Drives In Three

Seattle Mariners 2 -- New York Yankees 6
Raul Ibanez drove in 3 on his former team in today's 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Former Mariner Freddy Garcia started today's game and got through just 5 innings. The heat looked to get to Garcia despite giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits but 4 walks and 2 strikeouts made up his 85-pitch outing. Nick Swisher helped Garcia out defensively when Kyle Seager hit a single to right field that Swisher came up throwing and got former Yankees prospect Jesus Montero out at home. Boone Logan was called upon for 2 innings of work and he had a perfect relief appearance. David Robertson and Rafael Soriano handled the 8th and 9th inning to get the Yankees the win.
Former Mariner Raul Ibanez brought in 3 of the 6 runs in today's win. The veteran outfielder drove in his first run on a 5th inning home run deep to right center beyond the bullpen. Then in the 6th inning with the bases loaded, Ibanez came through with a two-run single to left field. Mark Teixeira got on base 4 times in today's game, 3 times on walks and was able to drive in one for the Yankees first run of the game in the 1st inning. Chris Stewart was a big part of the offense as his two hits and walk resulted in three of the runs that scored today. Derek Jeter had 2 hits today and Ichiro Suzuki got a sun-assisted double in the 7th inning as centerfielder Michael Saunders lost the ball in the sun and defended himself from the falling ball as it hit the grass and Ichiro's hitting streak extended to 12 games.
