Yankees game 119 preview (8/19/15)
Nathan Eovaldi (12-2, 4.26 ERA) closes out the series taking on Ervin Santana (2-3, 5.66 ERA) in a matinee at the stadium. Eovaldi was given a four run cushion his last time out and almost wasted it. He gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks through his usual 5 1/3 innings. Due to the fact that he's the only pitcher who receives run support, he walked away with the win. He went a season high eight innings the last time he faced Minnesota on July 26, giving up just two runs. He is 7-0 in his last 10 starts,
Santana has given up five or more runs in half of his starts back from his 80 game PED suspension. He was also given a four run lead his last time out against the Rangers, but went on to give up five of his own. He left with a no decision after pitching six innings with five hits. He is 5-8 with a 6.34 ERA against the Yanks.
Tidbits:
Santana hasn't beaten the Yankees since August 1, 2008.
Eovaldi's .857 winning percentage is tied for second in the Majors among pitchers with at least 10 decisions.
The Twins have 10 homers against the Yanks this year, the most they've had against them since 2009 when they also had 10.
