Yankees game 46 preview (5/26/15)
Adam Warren (2-3, 4.26 ERA) hopes his offense saved some runs for today's game against Jason Vargas (3-1, 5.26 ERA) and the Royals. The reason Warren hopes the offense didn't use up all their runs yesterday? He has thrown two back to back quality starts but still took the losses due to the bats only scoring two runs each time out. The most recent one against the Nationals he went 6 1/3 innings giving up just three runs (two earned) on four hits. The long ball got him though as two of those hits left the yard. He has given up just two hits in 18 at bats against active Royal bats.
Vargas came off the DL to take Danny Duffy's spot in the rotation as he hits the DL. He had been sideline with a strained flexor muscle in his elbow. In his last start back on May 5 against Cleveland, he went six innings giving up just two runs on two hits to pick up the win. The six Yankees batters who have faced Vargas are batting 9-47 (.191) against him.
