Yankees game 52 preview (6/1/16)
Masahiro Tanaka (3-0, 2.89 ERA) opens June against Aaron Sanchez (4-1, 3.29 ERA) in hopes of salvaging a win in the series. Tanaka returned to ace status in his last two outings, holding a 0.64 ERA across 14 innings against the A's and Rays. He faced Toronto back on April 12, allowing two runs through five innings taking a no decision. He is 5-2 in his career against the Jays, the most wins against any opponent. Sanchez has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts this year, including his last time facing the Yanks. He allowed just one run through six innings in that April 12 game, also taking a no decision. Tidbits: Tanaka is one of only four undefeated pitchers who have made at least 10 starts. Alex Rodriguez is 1-16 since coming back from the DL, and hitless against Sanchez in five career at bats. The Jays picked up Jason Grilli from the Braves for some bullpen help. 7:05 pm on YES.
