In past episodes, we've talked about how Girardi will use Miller, Betances, and Chapman. I felt Miller deserves the first crack at the closer job because he had a lights-out season last year and Chapman is the new guy. But yesterday (as we were recording, of course) Girardi said that they'll enter spring training with Chapman as closer. The x-factor is that Chapman will probably be suspended to start the season. We still don't know how long that suspension will be for, but it is very likely that Aroldis will not be available to start the regular season. But the reality is they really can't go wrong with any of the big three. This week we also discuss Griffey and Piazza, and other players who are crawling towards the required Hall of Fame percentage. Both Scott and I think the voting system is flawed. I wrote a blog about this topic last week, but the fact that there were three voters out there who left Griffey off their ballot is asinine, and the system needs to be changed.
Last week we had @jtmac21 on the show and we picked the NFL Wild Card playoff games. Scott and Justin went 1-3, while I (the smart one) went 3-1. Here are Scott and my picks for this weekend: Scott: Chiefs over Patriots, Cardinals over Packers, Panthers over Seahawks, Broncos over Steelers Andrew: Patriots over Chiefs, Cardinals over Packers, Panthers over Seahawks, Broncos over Steelers Shout out to @tipstermetro, Travis Ferguson, Anthony P, jeff.hanley, Jeff Mandelson, kyle_evans12, and devonlandsonmoon for submitting mailbag questions.
