Yankees non-tender Domingo German
Last night, the Yankees non-tendered RHP Domingo German in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, which now stands at 39. Similar to what they did with Slade Heathcott and Vicente Campos last year, the Yanks might now try and re-sign German instead of letting him go to another team.
German, 23, was acquired in the Nathan Eovaldi trade last winter, and underwent Tommy John surgery in February. German should get back into game action in '16, but isn't anywhere close to being big-league ready. Campos was also recovering from TJS when he was non-tendered last year, but was then re-signed and put back on the 40-man recently. Look for the Yankees to do the same with German, who has a big arm and high upside.
#Yankees do not tender a contract to RHP Domingo German, he is now a free agent.
