Yankees option Cessa to Scranton, call up Olson
Prior to tonight's game with the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees announced that they've sent RHP Luis Cessa to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and have called up LHP Tyler Olson. According to Chad Jennings of LoHud Yankees Blog, the Mariners have seven lefties on their roster, so a lefty-specialist is a welcome addition in the bullpen. Jennings also notes that it's always made sense for the Yankees to stretch Cessa out so he'd be ready to step in as a spot starter in case of an injury to the starting rotation. Cessa, 23, was acquired in the Justin Wilson trade over the winter. He made his MLB debut last week and allowed one run on two hits. Olson made his debut with the Mariners in 2015, appearing in 11 games in relief and going 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA over 13.1 innings. He was acquired along with Ronald Torreyes from the Dodgers back in January.
