Yankees option Jonathan Loaisiga to Triple-A
Jonathan Loaisiga's first go-around in Yankees pinstripes has unfortunately come to an end. According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, the Yankees optioned Loaisiga to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the team's 5-3 loss against the Atlanta Braves. The Yankees subsequently activated A.J. Cole from the disabled list.
#Yankees have optioned Jonathan Loaisiga to @swbrailriders. A.J. Cole activated. Aaron Boone said Loaisiga could come back to pitch one of the doubleheader games in Baltimore.

It is heavily speculated Cole will be the corresponding move, especially since the Yankees taxed their bullpen during last night's extra inning affair. However, Loaisiga's demotion might not last for long; the Yankees are in need of another pitcher for Monday's doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles. So it's more likely than not Loaisiga will rejoin the team in Baltimore as the 26th man. Loaisiga went 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.278 WHIP in 18 innings for the Yankees.
