Yankees place Clint Frazier on 10-day DL, reinstate Aaron Hicks
Embed from Getty Images For the last month, many wondered who would be the corresponding move when Aaron Hicks was ready to return from his stint on the disabled list. The answer ended up being Clint Frazier, but a demotion wasn't involved. The Yankees announced Frazier was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. As a corresponding move, the Yankees activated Hicks from the 10-day disabled list.
Yankees announce Clint Frazier to the DL w left oblique strain. Aaron Hicks activated. A day early for Hicks. Original plan was for Friday

The initial plan was for the Yankees to activate Hicks on Friday for the series opener against the Boston Red Sox. But Frazier was battling a sore oblique over the last few games. His sore oblique eventually took him out of the lineup on Wednesday night, which forced the Yankees to move Aaron Judge out of the DH spot, and place Garrett Cooper in the starting lineup. Prior to landing on the disabled list, it seemed a demotion was in Frazier's future; he hit .136/.174/.227 in his last 22 at-bats. The Yankees haven't given a timetable for Frazier's return.
