Green excelled as a reliever for the Yankees, but struggled in a starting role. He made his first start since July 8 last night, and allowed three runs on eight hits while walking four over 3.2 innings. Luis Severino relieved Green, and pitched his way into the rotation. Severino hurled 4.1 innings of one-hit ball, striking out five and earning his first win of the year. Barbato, 24, appeared in 12 games out of the pen for the Yankees earlier this season in April and May. He went 1-2 with a 5.54 ERA over 13 innings before being sent down. Manager Joe Girardi confirmed that Severino will start next Tuesday against the Red Sox.
