Yankees 'seriously exploring' extended netting
Shortly after a young fan was hit with a foul ball during the previous Yankees homestand, teams around Major League Baseball have made the decision to extend the netting in their respective ballparks. Today, in an email regarding 2018 season tickets, the Yankees provided a link that indicated the team is "seriously exploring" extending the netting for the 2018 season:
The Yankees are seriously exploring extending the netting prior to the 2018 season to the outside of the Yankees' dugout and the outside of the visitors' dugout, with the height of the netting being reduced as it approaches the dugouts. However, the Yankees are continuing to consult with the architectural firm that designed Yankee Stadium and the netting manufacturer and engineering firms so as to determine the exact height of the netting, the length of the prospective extension of the netting and the manner in which it would be secured to the Stadium.
The Yankees recently came under scrutiny when an unnamed person from the front office told reporter Wallace Matthews to not ask about the netting, despite the fact the unfortunate incident happened in their ballpark.
Yankee exec to me on the phone today: "I'm not talking about the netting. Goodbye. and don't f**king call me again.'' Click

While the front office appears to be taking a wait-and-see approach, Todd Frazier, who hit the scorching liner that accidentally hit a fan, said the netting issue shouldn't be something the Yankees put off. Frazier has also kept in constant contact with the little girl's family, and was recently told she is doing well.
