The 32-year-old is being brought in to compete for the backup catcher spot on the Major League roster. He will compete with rookie Gary Sanchez and Austin Romine for the backup gig. The Yankees will be Corporan's fourth team since his arrival in 2009. Last season with the Texas Rangers he hit .178/.244/.299 in 121 plate appearances. Corporan will provide much needed depth for the Bombers who have been searching for such since they traded away John Ryan Murphy earlier this offseason. If Corporan does not win the backup job, he will likely serve as depth in the minors.
