Report: Yankees to sign Pete Kozma to a minor league deal

On Friday afternoon, multiple sources have reported that the New York Yankees have reached an agreement on a minor league deal with infielder Pete Kozma. The team has not yet officially confirmed.

Kozma, 27, was originally drafted in the first round of the 2007 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Since making his big league debut during the 2011 season, the infielder has spent parts of the past five seasons with the Cardinals, posting a slash line of .222/.288/.293 in 275 career games. He played in a career-high 143 games during the 2013 season. The addition of Kozma is a move geared towards adding infield depth for the club. Kozma has seen his struggles offensively, but his ability to play multiple positions could be valuable for the Yankees, especially if the club deals with injuries throughout the 2016 season.
