Yankees Spring Training Game 32: Yankees fall short in loss

Pittsburgh Pirates 2 -- New York Yankees 1
Yankees score one in the 9th in today's 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Hiroki Kuroda looked impressive in his start today as a final tune-up for the regular season. In six innings, Kuroda gave up just one single while striking out five. Boone Logan came in and didn't get an out before exiting with an injury. Former Yankee Jose Tabata hit Logan in the left hip area with a line drive. David Aardsma came in and would give up a run on a wild pitch with a throwing error by Francisco Cervelli. A single would bring in the other run of the game, all on Boone Logan. Cody Eppley and Jim Miller put together scoreless appearances to hold down the Pirates and give the offense a chance.
The offense struggled to put a run on the board. Players competing for a role on the team were able to get hits in today's game. Brennan Boesch hit a double in one of his three at-bats. Catcher Francisco Cervelli hit a triple with less than two outs but would not score. In the 9th inning, the Yankees made an attempt to rally with a pair of doubles, including Lyle Overbay's run-scoring double. This would be the only run the Yankees score. Ichiro Suzuki and Robinson Cano also got a hit in today's game.
