Yanks add to 40-man roster

Gary Sanchez, the organization's top prospect, was added to the 40-man roster
While the A-Rod circus reached new heights yesterday, the Yankees made a handful of roster moves.
They acquired infielder Dean Anna from the Padres in exchange for right-handed pitcher Ben Paullus. Anna, 26, hit .331 with nine homers and 73 RBI in 132 games with Triple-A Tucson in 2013. He's viewed as a low risk acquisition, with potential to do good things with the bat. Paullus, 24, went 6-3 with a 3.01 ERA in 38 relief appearances for Class-A Charleston and Tampa in 2013.
Anna was then added to the 40-man roster along with five other players prior to Wednesday's deadline to protect eligible players from the rule-5 draft. New York added right-handed pitchers Jose Campos, Shane Greene and Bryan Mitchell to the 40-man along with outfielder Slade Heathcott and catcher Gary Sanchez.
Sanchez, 21, is ranked as the Yankees' No. 1 prospect. He spent 2013 between Class-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton, hitting a combined .253 with 15 homers and 71 RBI in 117 games.
Heathcott, 23, is ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the organization. He hit .261 in 103 games with Trenton this past season, adding eight homers and 49 RBIs.
Campos, who was acquired in the Michael Pineda deal two years ago, went 4-2 with two saves and a 3.41 ERA in 26 games (19 starts) with Class-A Charleston in '13. The 21-year-old is listed at No. 14 on the Yankee prospect list.
Mitchell, 22, started 27 games and went a combined 4-11 with a 4.71 ERA with Tampa and Trenton this season. He comes in as the No. 18 prospect.
Greene, 22, had his best season of his minor league career in 2013, going 8-4 with a 3.18 ERA with Tampa and Trenton.
The Rule-5 draft will take place on Dec. 12.
