Jay Bruce in, Luke Voit out

Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced on Saturday that Luke Voit, the 2020 MLB home run king, has a partial meniscus tear in his knee and will be undergoing surgery. Voit will be out of baseball activity for about three weeks before working his way back into the lineup.

As a result, the Yankees are also announcing that Jay Bruce’s contract will be selected and that he will be making the team.

Bruce has some experience playing first and may be asked to fill in for Voit. With Voit’s injury, it is likely that both Bruce and Tauchman will make the Yankees roster. The team does have Mike Ford on the 40-man roster as first base depth in the minor leagues.
