Minor league baseball is great for many reasons: it’s cheap, it’s family friendly, and it features awesome fan-giveaways that you can’t find at the major league level.
Following the news about the Houston Astros which shook the baseball world on Monday, the Staten Island Yankees (short-season A-Ball affiliate), wasted no time in revealing their latest giveaway for a game in 2020.

This is so unbelievably savage.
The giveaway, of course, pays homage to the now infamous trash can which sat in the tunnel between the Astros’ clubhouse and their dugout. Following the release of Rob Manfred’s investigation, we now know with 100 percent certainty that the Astros devised a plan in 2017 in which they deciphered signs from opposing teams through an outfield camera, and subsequently banged on a trash can to relay pitch information to hitters at the plate.
To add insult to injury, the opponent for the game in which the giveaway takes place is the Tri-City Valleycats, the short-season A-Ball affiliate for the Astros.
The Houston Astros will never be able to escape this scandal, and it’s glorious.
