Aaron Judge named AL Rookie of the Month
Yankees' right fielder Aaron Judge has been named the AL Rookie of the Month for April. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, for the slugger has been putting on a laser show since the season commenced. Judge is showing critics early that his struggles last year are a thing of the past. In 84 at-bats in 2016, he hit .179 with four home runs and 42 strikeouts. He often seemed overmatched by big league pitching, leaving coaches and fans a bit concerned. Through the first month of this season, however, The Judge looked like a much different player then what Yankee fans saw briefly last year. He clubbed 10 home runs, collected 20 RBIs, and scored 23 runs in the month of April. The 6'7 outfielder has carried himself with class, and has remained humble with his great success; such qualities have drawn Joe Girardi to make tremendous comparisons. The Yankee skipper has stated that Judge reminds him of a young Derek Jeter...No pressure there of course. Furthermore, Judge is proving that he feels right at home at Yankee Stadium, hitting nine of his league leading 12 homers there. The young phenom has joined elite company by hitting at least 12 home runs through the Yanks' first 25 games. The other names on that list are: Alex Rodriguez (14) and Babe Ruth (12).
Judge just hit two home runs in one game on May 2nd, so I wouldn't expect him to slow down anytime soon.
