Rosenthal: Giants discussing run at Andrew Miller
As the season progresses, we're no doubt going to hear more and more trade rumors regarding the Yankees. At 25-29 entering play on Saturday night, the organization is teetering on the edge of becoming sellers at the trade deadline. One possible name that is expected to come up again and again is Andrew Miller. According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the San Francisco Giants are already having internal discussions about making a run at the 31-year-old setup man/closer.
#SFGiants have discussed internally a run at #Yankees' Miller. Perfect fit, but would SF part with top pitching prospect such as Beede?

The Giants, who currently stand at 35-22 which is good for first place in the NL West, would be a perfect fit for Miller, according to Rosenthal. With Sergio Romo on the DL, Miller would join in-house closer Santiago Casilla to form a strong backend of the bullpen. However, Miller would fetch a nice return for the Yankees, who would likely want a top prospect or two. Rosenthal wonders if San Fran would be willing to part with their top pitching prospect, Tyler Beede, who just turned 23 on May 23. The 6-foot-3, 210 pound righty was drafted by the Giants out of Vanderbilt in the first round (14th overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft. Entering this season, he was ranked third on the Giants' top prospect list by Baseball Prospectus. He's currently 3-3 with a 3.05 ERA in 10 starts for double-A Richmond. Beede tops out at around 97 mph with his fastball, so an arm like that would definitely intrigue the Yankees. Miller, on the other hand, is having another extraordinary season. He's 2-0 with a 1.25 ERA, and has struck out 40 in 21.2. innings. A guy like Miller could change the landscape in a pennant race. There were rumors that the Yankees were shopping him over the offseason, although nothing ever came to fruition. Miller has about $27M remaining on his contract over the next three years.
