The Yankees added infield depth by claiming 26-year-old Hanser Alberto off waivers from the Texas Rangers.
The Yankees have acquired INF Hanser Alberto off waivers from Texas and added him to the 40-man roster.

Prior to the acquisition, Alberto spent all of his career with the Rangers. The Dominican native logged just 13 games in the big leagues last year. During that span, he hit .185 with two doubles. However, Alberto enjoyed much more success during his time at Triple-A last season. Through 101 games, he hit .330 with seven home runs and 58 RBIs.
Alberto will likely serve as minor league depth as the Yankees look to fill shortstop for a few months in Didi Gregorius‘ absence.
