According to Jerry Crasnick, the Yankees have signed former Mets infielder Ruben Tejada to a minor league contract. He'll also receive a non-roster invitation to spring training.

Tejada, 27, played second base and shortstop for the Mets from 2010-2015. He famously suffered a broken fibula after Chase Utley slid into him in Game 2 of the 2015 NLDS, and he hasn't been the same since. The Mets cut him last spring and he played just 36 games in 2016 with the Cardinals and Giants, hitting .167. The Yankees are hoping that Tejada can play well at the Triple-A level, if not emerge as a reliable backup option for Didi Gregorius and Starlin Castro.
