Playoff Push: Yankees drop to 3.5 games behind Rays and Rangers

Last night, the Yankee bats were held silent and lost a critical game in Toronto. They are now 3.5 games back of the Rangers and Rays, who are tied for the 2 Wild Card spots. Tonight, the Yankees start a critical home-stand where they have to win at least 5 of the 6 games to give themselves a chance. Here are how the teams in contention fared yesterday:

Rays: 8-2 loss vs Rangers. Matt Moore struggles for Rays.

Rangers: 8-2 win vs Rays. Yu Darvish gets win despite walking 6 batters in 5 innings.

Indians: 2-1 win vs Astros in 11 innings. Matt Carson with walk-off single; Ubaldo Jimenez continues flawless pitching.

Orioles: 3-1 loss vs Red Sox. John Lackey pitches a complete game for the Red Sox.

Royals: OFF

Yankees: 6-2 loss vs Blue Jays. Hiroki Kuroda continues unimpressive streak.
