Instant Reaction: Yanks win and Sevy makes a friend!

Gut Reaction

Good job by the bullpen. Good job by Joe. Good stuff all around.

Joe Makes the Right Moves and Sevy Gets a Friend

I liked a lot about that game. Mostly I liked that we won, but the really special thing is that Luis Severino made a friend. Being a starting pitcher can get pretty boring on your off day. I know this because in High School I sat the bench a good amount. It gets lonely. It gets boring. Sometimes you make friends with the bugs. It’s what happens. Whatever helps you pass the time, am I right? If that includes feeding a praying mantis some seeds, giving it a home, and a ball to play with, then so be it.

The Yanks knocked another starting pitcher out before the 5th inning ended. That’s 5 in the last 7 games. That’s a great winning formula.

Jacoby breaks the record for most catchers interferences, which is… something.

Betances notches his 50oth strikeout and it comes against Logan Morrison. Rumor is Betances let those first two guys on just to make sure LoMo was a part of strikeout history. I’m sure Gary was very appreciative to catch that ball.

Todd Frazier threw one over the wall for all of his haters who think he’s bad because his batting average is low (new flash for all of you, batting average is practically a meaningless way to judge a hitters productivity).

That’s about it. Good game. I enjoyed it. Yanks have now won 8 out of their last 11 games. If they win tomorrow they will have won 7 of their last 9 series. Let’s do that!

While I’ve Got You Here

I watch these couple videos every year on this date. I think it is important. Not to watch these specific videos or any specific video, but to take a couple seconds and remember what happened in whatever way works best for you. There are a lot of people who only know of September 11th through stories and elders. My brother is ten years younger than me and I send him these clips once a year. It’s important to understand our history, to know what happened and to learn about the heroes that rose up.

These two videos focus a little more on the helpers than the horror.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” – Mr Rogers
