While Yankees pitchers Andrew Miller and Ivan Nova have been the latest topics of trade deadline conversations, their batterymate could also be on the move this weekend.
According to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball, New York is beginning to ‘gauge interest’ in catcher Brian McCann, although no deal has reportedly surfaced.

Per Heyman’s report:
The Yankees have yet to commit to a strict buy-or-sell mentality, but have plenty of options available to take over behind the plate should McCann draw a worthy deal.
Austin Romine is having a nice year, hitting .265/.277/.434 with three home runs and 18 RBI in 39 games. Gary Sanchez is a top prospect, ranking fourth in the organization and 39th in baseball, and other catchers are doing well in the Yankees’ system.
McCann, 32, has slashed .235/.334/.430 with 15 home runs and 41 runs batted in in his third season with New York, and remains under contract for the next two years for $34 million. A vesting option of $15 million in 2019 is contingent on McCann’s health and playing time.
McCann joins Brewers’ Jonathan Lucroy and Padres’ Derrk Norris as rumored catchers on the trading block.
