David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com is reporting that the Yankees are one of three teams who are now attempting to add Cubs SP Ryan Dempster to their rotation. Kaplan states that the Dodgers are still Dempster’s preferred landing spot, but they will have to up their offer to hold off the Yankees and the Texas Rangers. The 35-year old Dempster has informed Cubs management that despite his preference, he would not exercise his 10/5 rights to prevent a deal to the Yankees or Rangers.

Dempster is 5-5 with a 2.25 ERA over 104 innings pitched this season. The two-time All-Star had a streak this summer of 31 straight scoreless innings which had spanned from June 4th to July 15th.
